The early years

In the late 1970s and early 1980s, Search staff invested deeply in one-on-one conversations and small groups. They served adults from all walks of life, including those involved in professional sports, business, and local communities. Early resources such as I'm Glad You Asked and The Search for Meaning were written to support these growing conversations.

As interest grew, Search expanded into more cities. Staff members built friendships, hosted open discussions, and invited people into ongoing dialogue about God and life.

Growing into a national ministry

Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, Search continued to strengthen its staff and expand its reach. New cities were added. New resources were developed. Staff training grew more intentional. The ministry refined its approach while holding tightly to its core belief that honest conversations lead to meaningful spiritual growth.

During this season, Search began to see the long-term impact of relational ministry. Adults were taking steps toward God. Friendships were forming that lasted for decades. Small groups and follow-up conversations became a vital part of the Search experience.

Where Search is today

Search is now active in cities across the country. Our staff spends their time meeting with adults in living rooms, coffee shops, offices, restaurants, and anywhere else conversations naturally unfold. They lead Forums where any question is welcome, host Foundations groups that explore who God is and what it means to know him personally, and guide Formation groups focused on spiritual growth and sharing faith naturally through everyday relationships.

The settings may have changed over the years, but the heart of Search has not. We continue to create opportunities for spiritually curious adults to talk openly about their questions and encounter the hope of a relationship with Jesus.
